Why Photowalk?

As you may or may not have noticed, we've started a new-ish program here at tvC.
The monthly Photowalk.

Thanks to Christopher Stawisky for shooting the most recent group photo for the March Photowalk.

We've decided to do this for a few reasons. I'll enumerate them for you, so you know what you're missing out on.

Reason #1: The one thing that truly determines how much you learn and grow as an artist is how much you practice your art. The more you you shoot, the better you are going to get. I promise. If you shot 100 frames every day, you would get better every day. If you intentionally shot those 100 frames, and cared about what you were shooting, you'd get that much better.

Reason #2: Community. Hanging out with other photogs and creative people is straight up awesome. Talk about gear or technique or post production or whatever you want. These people speak your language. If you're sick of your friends going cross-eyed when you talk about F-stops and focal length compression, the photowalk is the right place for you

Reason #3: FOOD. We eat lunch at Big Foot BBQ. 'Nuff said.

Reason #4: Prizes. thevisualCollective awards prizes to Missions winners at the Photowalk, as well as one totally random prize every month to a random person who shows up. Free stuff is goooood.

Reason #5: Networking. In this industry, it is all about who you know. The more local photographers you know, the easier it will be when you want to collaborate on a new project or ask advice on how to run your business or shoot a particular client. Plus, we keep track of the opportunities out there and make sure to let each other know when something comes up.

Those are just a few reasons - but my fingers hurt from typing all morning and I would much rather they hurt from pressing the shutter. I'm outta here.

Join us next month on April 29th for another Photowalk. Lunch at 12Noon, walk starts at 1pm and goes until 3pm-ish.

Until then, keep shooting and keep learning!
