What's In Your Camera Bag?

Welcome to the beginning of a new series by yours-truly, Señior Photographía. 'What's in your camera bag' will be a place to explore the chains we forge in life. Made link by link and yard by yard of the gear we acquire. We garter it on of our own free will and by our own free will, we wear it.

Camera bags are (often) not light affairs, and with space at a premium, the gear each photographer packs is a reflection on what that person sees as necessary to capture and create their vision. Big or small, light or heavy, lots of glass or only one lens, this is the gear that goes with us no matter what or where, every time. Often just the bag one carries speaks volumes; backpack, shoulder bag, hip pack or something else. The quest for the perfect bag is on par with the quest for the holy grail.

To get things started, let's dive into my digital kit...

I prefer a shoulder type bag, as it is easy to access and work out of while on the go. I have tried many, but prefer my standard issue Nikon brand, medium shoulder bag. Inside the bag I have...

-Nikon D300s Camera body w/ battery grip.
-Extra AA battery pack for camera.
-Nikon 17-35mm f/2.8
-Nikon 35-70mm f/2.8
-UV filters, polarizer, 2 stop ND and a filter step down ring
-Nikon SB-600 w/ plasti-card bounce and stand.
-Gel kit.
-Cleaning kit, blower brush and micro fiber cleaning cloth.
-Extra memory cards, empty cases for the cards in my camera.
-Pens and sharpies.
-Gaff tape with the cardboard roll removed for easier storage.
-Hook and loop strap, rubber bands, safety pins, more batteries, small pencil, extra cleaning cloth, small bubble level.
-Hand warmers and facial tissue.
-Two pocket wizards.
-Flash to pocket wizard cord.
-10 pin to Pocket wizard cord for remote camera release.
-Tethering cable.
-Small flashlight.
-Small notebook and Model/property releases.
-Leather Man multi tool.
-Press Pass.

The only other things that sometimes make it into my kit depending on what I am shooting are a battery charger and a Nikon 55mm f/3.5 macro lens.

This is my standard digital camera kit. I have others for other camera systems, which I will review in the future. If you would like to be featured on our blog showing off your 'perfect' camera kit, email us at info@thevisualcollective.com for details. Questions about my kit will be answered in the comments...
